My Therapy Style

I use various modalities in my sessions, depending on the client and their unique needs. I pride myself on having clients become active partners in their treatment and provide feedback and encouragement as needed. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured approach that allows us to address how our thoughts and feelings are connected to our behaviors. Using this approach, I will encourage you to be open to various interventions such as role-playing, and challenging irrational thoughts to change them to adaptive healthy thoughts to address your concerns as they arise during our sessions.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional because I enjoyed my own experience in therapy after leaving an abusive relationship. I saw therapy as an anchor in my life and I wanted to be a support to others.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my 4-year-old son crafting, painting, and traveling.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I meditate every morning for 10 minutes.

What book have you read more than once?

A Day Late and A Dollar Short. I enjoyed this novel because I can relate to the characters and it reminds me to stay present in the moment rather than worry about the future.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Therapy for Black Girls. I like this organization because it supports black women seeking therapy in a community that holds strong stigmatized beliefs about mental health.

How do you recharge?

I take a week off from work every 3 months to rest, visit family, and spend time with my son.
