Why did you become a mental health professional?

I have always been interested in human behavior and understanding why people think and behave the way they do. In our society, there is a stigma towards mental health and a lack of understanding by the general population of how mental health symptoms impact daily functioning and how to reduce the impact of those symptoms. I have always been interested in helping people and want to use my knowledge and passion to support people struggling with mental health symptoms.

What are your interests outside of work?

I am an active person and enjoy playing and watching sports. My favorite sports teams are the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Diego State University Aztecs. I enjoy spending relaxing time watching tv with my wife and our two cats.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Before going to bed I listen to a 15-minute meditation from the Calm app. Helps me let go of any worries and stress from the day.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! I have two cats named Kiwi and Luna. My favorite pet story involves when Kiwi was a kitten and Kiwi and Luna were playing together. When one of them would get hurt from wrestling, the other would start licking them until they were ready to resume wrestling.
