My personal style is to be supportive and non-judgmental in order to allow my clients to be free to experience and express all emotions.

My Therapy Style

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist who specializes in substance use and trauma. My goal as a clinician is to create a safe and collaborative space to identify each client’s personal goals for therapy and engage client centered interventions to assist them with achieving their goals. My personal style is to be supportive and non-judgemental in order to allow my clients to be free to experience and express all emotions. I use an eclectic approach to interventions, using skills based in Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, CBT and DBT to meet each of my client’s unique needs.

Life can be challenging, and I believe we are each doing the best we can with the tools we have. I look forward to assisting my clients with gaining an increased understanding of how their own experiences are shaping them and helping my clients expand their “toolbox”.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I am someone who felt the calling to "help" from a fairly young age. I have learned through both form education and life experiences the value of being seen, understood, and being given a deeper understanding of our experiences and tools available to support us through challenging times. As someone who has addiction in their family, I have personal experience with how challenging it can be to find clinicians who are able to appropriately address this issue, and I am honored to be able to support those who are struggling themselves or are supporting a loved one who is struggling with addiction. In addition, I have seen the value of exploring underlying clinician issues such as anxiety, depression and trauma and have worked to develop my skills in each of these areas as well.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, and getting together with close friends.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I engage small mindful moments throughout my day, savoring my cup of coffee, watching a bird outside of my window or I enjoy using physical exercise to have time to myself and to connect to my body.

What book have you read more than once?

I have read Brene Brown's books multiple times. I feel the way she is able to articulate our shared human experience is incredibly powerful. I often work with clients where shame is an underlying factor and her work is incredibly invaluable in creating a more tangible understanding of what has historically been a topic we have avoided in our culture.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I have supported the Loveland Foundation for the past 3 years. I feel passionately about providing therapy resources to everyone, but the focus on providing free or low cost therapy services to Black women and girls is an invaluable resource for providing a safe space for healing.

How do you recharge?

I describe myself as both an introvert and extrovert, so recharging is dependent on which battery is drained. If needing to connect with others I will prioritize time with my husband and children, talk to my sister who lives out of state or get together with my close group of girlfriends. If I am needing to recharge my own battery I will find time to talk a walk, get a massage, spend time in nature or simply find periods of time to relax in silence.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! Our family recently adopted a German Shepherd this past December. She is 4 years old and a wonderful addition to our family. We love getting to know her more and more each day and seeing her bond to my children grow is so special.
