I believe and work from a mindset that physical and mental health work as one, I wanted to work with clients on improving both physical and mental health working from a holistic view to increase life satisfaction and create long term changes that will stay with them for life and contributing to overall health, wellness and happiness.
I enjoy a variety of physical activities: sailing, jogging, biking, SUP, walking, skiing, swimming, yoga. I am always reading some type of book, interested in many topics and always looking to learn something new. I equally enjoy time spent with my spouse, children and two Bernese Mountain Dogs; as well as alone time to engage in self-care.
Carve out time to be alone and engage in some form of movement and self-care.
Tuesdays with Morrie, I read it at two different time periods of my life. First as a graduate student, single no children and the second time was after my grandmother passed away, and I was married and with two children. The book had different meaning to me reading from different perspectives, coming at it from different time periods and life experiences.
I do not have one specific favorite, any organization that is aiding animals. I have been in love with all animals since childhood (my first word was dog). I think that animals are defenseless for the most part against humans and violence; often they are harmed and neglected and there is not much they are in control of to better their circumstances.
Scheduling downtime for myself for a massage or some activity that I can remove myself from the day to day. I equally enjoy time in the woods hiking with my children or paddle boarding on the lake-anything that pulls us out of the day to day responsibilities and gets us outside and away for a while.
I have two Bernese Mountain Dogs, 1 Shih-tzu and 5 chickens. My favorite pet story does not involve my personal animals, it was a story told to me by my parents. When they were dating they were out for a walk after dinner one evening with my mom's Husky named Sunshine Louise. A car swerved over and was getting close to my mother so the dog ran between my mom and the car pushing my mom down and out of the way. The ending was not bright for the dog and turns out the driver was intoxicated; the takeaway is the unconditional love our pets have for us, they will do anything to protect us in the moment that is all they think about. I have seen this played out countless times with my animals with myself or my children, I am a believer that a "dog is a man's best friend"
