I utilize various tools and techniques drawn from evidence-based modalities. I also recommend mindfulness and wellness strategies that are shown to improve mental health and overall health. There is no “one size fits all” for the healing journey as we are unique. Your needs are at the center of the therapeutic relationship, and you will have my focused attention. I believe in Unconditional Positive Regard for all clients, so you can expect my communication to be client-centered and supportive.
MSW - Social Work, University of Illinois
This is a tough one to answer. As an undergraduate, the more I studied the social sciences the more I was fascinated by learning everything I could about human behavior. As my career has developed, the focus has shifted toward using all of that learning to more effectively assist clients in their journey.
I am re-learning to play music. I grew up playing the tenor sax, and as an adult, I decided I wanted to learn chords and stringed instruments. This has opened up a whole new way of understanding and participating in music.
I make an effort to get outdoors and into my yard and garden at least once a day. I found that a little daily outdoor work goes a long way toward recharging my batteries.
I approach recharging in the same way I recommend to clients! I take a comprehensive approach that includes diet, exercise, mindfulness, social and family activities, etc. I give myself a big and flexible menu of strategies to choose from.
