Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I have always wanted to help. As a young man, I became a Marine to serve my country. Later, I became a probation officer and began helping rehabilitate their lives to be successful in society. This was when I became interested in mental health, as I worked firsthand with a lot of individuals who were really good people but had made mistakes. I became a licensed professional counselor and continued to help people explore their own stories.

What are your interests outside of work?

I am married and have four children. I am also a brand-new grandfather, and so my time is often focused on family.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I enjoy cooking home-cooked meals. I find working with my hands in the kitchen helps me focus and unwind from the day, and I enjoy seeing (and eating!) the products of my efforts.

How do you recharge?

I am a huge nerd. I enjoy most of the common fandoms, and I play tabletop board games, and video games, and enjoy playing role-playing games with my friends.
