Therapy style
Life can be challenging for anyone. At this time, you may be feeling anxious, not at your best, isolated, or lacking a sense of purpose. Life is a journey filled with experiences that challenge and validate our understandings of who we are and what we believe. Because each person's journey is unique, each person develops a unique perspective for engaging with, and understanding the world around them. My role in the therapy process is to facilitate a space where you feel supported, accepted, and capable and assist you in reconnecting with your skills and knowledges, bringing your values and hopes for your life to the forefront. No one knows what it is like to be you in this world more than you do. Together we will work to identify and challenge the narratives that continue to perpetuate distress while illuminating and refocusing on the many skills and abilities you possess so you can find new hopes and possibilities for your life.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as an approved Board supervisor, I have worked with a broad range of issues with children, teens, and adults and in many different environments. As an immigrant from Canada, I have experienced firsthand the realities of adapting to a different cultural, political and social context. Whether the issues causing distress in your life occur at school, at home, or in the workplace, in between relationships or within yourself, I would be honored to partner with you in your change process. My style is person-centered, respectful, and compassionate. I use strength focused and change oriented approaches such as Solution-focused therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I welcome people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and spiritual affiliations.
