Therapy style
My focus is on assisting those clients with issues they need greater support on – grief, chronic illness, chronic pain, and Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP). The misunderstood nature of health issues such as fibromyalgia, lupus, and headaches can lead to disruption in clients' lives and relationships, and grieving the healthy self is not unusual. HSPs experience the world with a heightened perspective, often finding interactions and sensory stimulation difficult as well as health challenges. Navigating such a world often requires more support and validation, which psychotherapy can provide.
My style as a psychotherapist is warm, person-centered, and interactive. I offer insights and support while challenging you to find the answers you seek within yourself. I've worked extensively with persons with health issues and more recently worked in hospice bereavement, supporting those moving forward from the death of a loved one. My style is client-centered as a constant starting point, with the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques for helping clients to cope and find their strengths within.
