My style is using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and discussing current stressors, identifying triggers and core beliefs that cause distortions, looking at what you can and cannot change, using Distress Tolerance and a Wise Mind as well as setting boundaries and using assertive communication. I also support clients who choose to use their faith as a coping tool and incorporate prayer and seeking guidance from a higher power if that is important to them. I assist clients in identifying resources in the community and other support systems to help them reach their goals.

I became a mental health professional to pursue helping people become successful members of society and reach their personal goals while teaching them that mental illness is not something that they are but something they have.
I love flowers, gardening, traveling, and reading as well as spending time with family.
I walk or read, do a daily devotional for my spiritual life that gives me hope and keeps me grounded.
Although, I love to read, I don't usually reread books as I like to experience a new adventure or learn something new. I read parts of the Bible almost everyday. I have thought that I would like to reread one of my favorite series, the Harry Potter books. They are full of so much description and the story is so complex that I know I could find new details as I read the series again.
Rotary Club! I'm a member and love the emphasis on community service and support. The impact it has on the local community and international communities as well.
Reading, shopping, gardening, and going vacation. I love to sit on my front porch with a cup of coffee and watch the birds at my bird feeder.
I have a dog, she's a Maltese and she cuddles on my lap whenever I sit down in my chair at home. She always greets me with a toy.
