My Therapy Style

I primarily work from a trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral approach to help clients understand how daily thoughts fundamentally shape their emotions, behavioral patterns, and responses to life’s challenges. I believe in incorporating skills and practice into the therapy process to build distress tolerance, tackle avoidance, and reframe toxic thoughts. My approach starts with developing a personalized treatment plan with my client based on clear, measurable, meaningful goals. While I specialize in working with first responders, I enjoy treating diverse populations and have 15+ years of experience in community mental health.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

My mother loves to remind me that I was nominated as a peer counselor in 6th grade, but I didn’t seriously consider a career as a therapist until college. I believe it’s a privilege to be present through someone’s suffering and recovery. Whether it’s working through layers of trauma, a major life transition or loss, or chronic mental illness, it’s never too late to re-write your story. I’m always amazed by the resiliency of the human spirit, and I want to help others make small and big changes toward the life they want.

What are your interests outside of work?

I am an experience vs. “stuff” person. I love traveling, day trips, painting, fitness, snowboarding, walking my dog all over town, visiting family, spending time with loved ones, and making the most of the day.

What book have you read more than once?

Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl. Also, The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein.

How do you recharge?

After the day is done, I love to put on some headphones and walk all over town with my dog, Jax. That’s me time. I enjoy feeling connected to the energy and bustle of downtown, while having some time to reflect on the day. I also will admit — I love to watch a good Netflix drama!
