Therapy style

I like to take a casual, comfortable, and collaborative approach to therapy. I enjoy taking time to get to know who you are, your approach to life, and what really matters to you. I'm known for incorporating humor when appropriate - therapy can be difficult, but who says it has to be boring? I have significant experience working with adults presenting with various mental health symptoms, substance use disorders, relationship conflict, trauma, and stressors. I hold extensive experience working with individuals (and loved ones) struggling and recovering from substance use disorders. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with adults from various cultures, ages, and phases of life—I believe that it has shown me so many different ways of looking at the world! My practice is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. However, I prioritize taking the time to identify the appropriate interventions and approaches for each individual client, so my approach may also include skill-building (Dialectical-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral), Psychoeducation, and processing. I believe that the person seeking therapy is an equal member of the treatment-planning process. Together, we will identify goals and small changes that are relevant to you and within your control.

Approaches

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Harm Reduction
