Therapy style
Many of us have experiences growing up that still impact our relationships as adults, typically without us even knowing it. One of the ways this manifests itself is codependent relationships, sometimes to the degree that people completely lose themselves or don't know who they are on their own. It is not uncommon for someone who struggles with codependency to turn to drugs and alcohol to cope with their pain, which can then becomes problematic as well. I am a strong believer in 12 Step recovery, and supporting individuals in finding support outside themselves in community meetings. What is offered in 12 Step Recovery is evidence-based. I look forward to introducing clients to better understand this type of support, as well as providing space for clients to process trauma as they have developed time in recovery from addiction.

Interests
I love being outside! I try to get out every single day because it brings me joy. I am grateful to live a short drive from the ocean and have trails near my house to hike and run on regularly. I am a huge dog lover, so exercising with my dog (a silly boxer) is something I try to do daily. I practice my own 12 Step program of recovery (Al-anon), prayer, and meditation are an important part of that journey for me. I am a big fan of traveling. More than any other place on the planet, my husband, daughter, and I love spending time on various Hawaiian islands. While we are on the islands, snorkeling as a family is our favorite activity.
