Therapy style
I have years of experience with evidence-based treatment for people with depression and anxiety. I focus on supportive therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed care for the individual. I rely on collaboratively working with individuals to identify and develop the strengths that can empower them through challenges.
Becoming a clinician is based on my innate clinical skills of listening, empathizing, and empowering. Upon completing my undergraduate and graduate education in Long Island, New York, I was able to expand and hone my skills by working in various types of settings. These experiences helped me gain a greater understanding of the broad spectrum of traumatic influences that shape lives and then deliver that to the people I work with.
The process involves a gentle and honest assessment of a person’s clinical and family history. We will identify the history of coping mechanisms during stressful times and assess their effectiveness. We identify goals, objectives, and agreed-upon commitments. Homework might be assigned that will correlate with achieving those goals and objectives. The use of evidence-based screening tools will help identify and monitor the progress of symptom reduction.
