Therapy style
It's okay to be enraged - about unjust treatment both individually and on a societal level (racism, structural racism, sexism, all the isms). It's okay to be deeply sad. It's okay to be anxious. All the feelings are there for a reason, and sometimes there isn't any particular reason you can identify. It's okay to judge yourself, it's okay to be "negative." We will learn to feel the feelings and think the thoughts, while CHOOSING what you want to do next, based on what's important to you. I have expertise in anxiety, phobias, depression, PTSD, infertility, and perinatal distress. I love working with BIPOC people. I use warmth, empathy, and compassion, providing evidence-based treatment and structured goals to help you live the way that's important to you, in parenthood, intimate relationships, friendships, work, play, community, learning, and other crucial areas of your life. We will practice how to accept hard feelings and thoughts, while pursuing behavior change.
I passionately believe in people and their ability to change. I'm driven to do this work, because I have seen people across a huge swath of issues and concerns create lives they wanted. I am honored to help you on your way, committed to understanding, supporting, and motivating you through this process, knowing you will carry these skills away from therapy and live life well. We bring in the full context of your life, especially including the ways you are affected by society. As a mom who struggled with infertility myself, I get how hard the journey towards and path of parenthood are, and as a professional, I know how moms, birthing people, parents, and caregivers struggle. You are not alone, and there is help here for you.
