I work with clients to identify and challenge negative thoughts and behaviors that can maintain low mood and anxiety and to generate more accurate and helpful thoughts/behaviors.

My Therapy Style

I primarily practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a present-focused therapy with a wealth of research evidence demonstrating its positive effects on mood and anxiety. In therapy sessions, I work with clients to identify and challenge negative thoughts and behaviors that can maintain low mood and anxiety and to generate more accurate and helpful thoughts/behaviors. When relevant, I incorporate techniques from other empirically supported treatments, including Mindfulness-Based Interventions and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I have always been interested in the mind and mood, and I found neuroscience and psychology courses fascinating when I was in college. In addition, I have always enjoyed listening and helping others. These qualities naturally led me to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology.

What are your interests outside of work?

In my free time, I enjoy hiking and being in nature, reading, and spending time with my husband and two children.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I have a mindfulness meditation practice that helps me to increase presence in my life.

What book have you read more than once?

I've read To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee many times. I love many aspects of the book including the important issues that it causes readers to think deeply about such as racism and injustice. I also enjoy the characters, the symbolism used, and the engaging way it is written including the courtroom scenes.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I do not have a specific, favorite non-profit, but I am grateful to organizations that protect trees and preserve beautiful, outdoor spaces.

How do you recharge?

I recharge by spending time in nature and with my family.
