Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

My mom would take me to nursing homes when I was 12 to help feed the residents because they were short-handed. I knew from an early age I wanted to help people. That experience made me comfortable talking to others.

What are your interests outside of work?

Working out, spending time with my three boys and husband out in nature, and National Park hunting.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I speak to my best friend and my mom every day on the phone. They recharge me. Also, walk on the treadmill.

What book have you read more than once?

Harry Potter series. I just love Harry Potter! I love the magic of it all.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Goodwill. I know they are not looked at favorably due to the CEO being well-paid. However, they employ my most unemployable clients and give them a sense of purpose. For that, I am very grateful.

How do you recharge?

Naps. I love naps! I also enjoy gardening and spending time in my yard.

Do you have any pets?

We recently put our family dog to sleep. He was just a love and I miss him terribly. He was a hunting dog/beagle mix and would howl when I pulled in the driveway every day when I got home from work until I walked in the door. He knew the sound of my car and car door. Even the neighbors knew when I was home from work, lol. I'm pretty sure no one will ever be that happy that I came home from work in my lifetime. He is truly missed.
