My Therapy Style

I utilize a combination of psycho-education, strengths-based, and skills-training approaches. I am goal-directed and like to work strategically on the things that are priority areas for my clients. I draw heavily on cognitive/narrative approaches (examining the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, other people, and the world).

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I think I was always a helper in my family and in my friend group growing up! I believe I am good at listening, recognizing patterns, and helping people "see" their issues from a new perspective. I also just love people's stories. My two greatest values are connection and creativity.

What are your interests outside of work?

So many! I paint abstracts, write fiction, garden, play pickleball (not very well!), read a ton of fiction, travel, and walk with my dogs.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Painting really helps me unhook from my own thoughts and use a different part of my brain. I also love bright colors and patterns.

What book have you read more than once?

William Bridges' The Way of Transition. I've read it a few times when life has felt hard and also loaned it to countless people. It reminds me that it is normal to feel very uncomfortable when we're in the midst of a transition.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I'm biased, but Adapt Integrated Health Care, the non-profit I current work for as an administrator/trainer/clinical supervisor. It's an amazing mission-driven organization with such dedicated employees.

How do you recharge?

I like to sit in my backyard with my partner and my dogs and read a novel. I also love to paint without any plan for the outcome.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! Currently two active young dogs (heeler mixes) and a 23-year-old cat! When we were looking to add a second dog, my husband specified that he didn't want a puppy or a dog that was bigger than our Piper, who is about 40 pounds. We rescued Quinn, a lab/heeler mix at 9 weeks-- and he is now 80 pounds. I guess I just heard "yes, we can get a second dog!"
