My Therapy Style

I am a champion for purposeful meaningful relationships. I believe we all have a responsibility to choose how we communicate and behave in those relationships. Having worked with various populations including the chronically mentally ill, families in child welfare teens/adults, and families within residential treatment settings I have experienced how the power of communication can heal even the most distant of relationships. I strive to use my knowledge and experience to help others improve their quality of life.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I found that many people were calling me and asking advice or simply to have someone listen to them. It was something I enjoyed and after seeking counseling with a mentor in the field, she suggested that being a therapist could be a fulfilling career. She wasn't wrong. I love what I do!

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy hiking, doing CrossFit, spending time with my animals, as well as my friends and family. I also love to read and listen to podcasts/audiobooks.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I get in some movement throughout the day. That might be a walk with my dog, stretching while I watch my favorite TV show, spending some time outside doing yoga, or participating in a grueling CrossFit workout. Each and every one of these activities serves supports my mental and emotional well-being.

What book have you read more than once?

I am an avid Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fan. Although I am still trying to make my way through The Return of the King because it's so dense. Both of these series bring joy and fun into my life.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I am a fan of any animal welfare organization and have a soft spot for rescuing animals.

How do you recharge?

I make sure my hydration and nutrition are taken care of. Then I like to take some quiet time to read without interruption. If I am too tired to read (or there is a risk I would fall asleep), I enjoy watching a movie with my partner.

Do you have any pets?

I have a dog and a cat who I lovingly introduce to client's as my co-workers because they frequently join sessions. There are too many favorites to report however, I love that my dog is my shadow and loves to be wherever I am.
