Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I decided to come into this field out of fascination with human behavior and the brain. As humans, we are wired for relationships. Whether we identify as introverts or extroverts, the truth is we need one another. Relationships are our greatest source of joy and fulfillment but also a big source of distress. The wonderful thing is that we have an astonishing brain capable of changing and growing. It is in the context of a safe, empathetic therapeutic relationship that our brain learns new ways of thinking, behaving and connecting.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends talking, playing board games, trying new food, and exploring new walking trails and places in general.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Practicing gratitude and a good night sleep!

What book have you read more than once?

Many from Brene Brown! Her research on shame has taught me the importance of vulnerability in order to connect deeply and genuinely with myself and others.

How do you recharge?

I maintain spiritual practices that help me ground myself in what's most important to me.
