My Therapy Style

Where there is life, there is hope! Where there is hope, there is also a future for you. I am ready to be part of your healing journey, let's do this together. Trauma can cause dysregulation in our bodies, minds, and hearts. Many of the clients I see have been impacted by the Department of Social Services & the Department of Corrections. Sessions often focus on past trauma, triggers, attachment issues, and the effects of transracial adoptions. I work with people from all walks of life, from the foster care system to the prison system. I have the innate desire to build empathetic, genuine, therapeutic relationships with my clients.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

Since I was a child, I have always wanted to know "why did he/she do that?" I was always interested in human behavior. It was always important to me to know "why?" Then I took a racial trauma class and a trauma informed training course. I knew then, a light bulb literally turned on for me! I didn't know that I was going to walk the path of becoming a mental health professional, however I believe that every step, internship, class, and mentor lead me to this profession.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy hanging out with my family. I have 3 beautiful girls and a wonderful husband. We love to travel and have plans to attend all 50 states before my girls graduate high school.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

My days are very busy, therefore I try hard to disconnect from work by scrolling through my photo library on my phone. I love looking at pictures and reminiscing on good times I've had with family. I also try to change my scenery by taking walks or going for a quick drive. I try to sneak in a good massage every once in a while.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

My church is my favorite organization. My family and I are heavily involved in our community. We participate in food giveaways, community advocacy, mental health awareness, and much more. My church has a non-profit that is connected to the church which allows us to do great community work right in our marginalized, oppressed neighborhood.

Do you have any pets?

I have dog. Her name is Nova. My husband bought her home and surprised me with her on my birthday. Nova was a rescue puppy, as her mother died. He got the call to come see the puppies quickly as they were going fast. He went to pick her up. Because my husband is the only male in the family and he had to hurry up and pick her up, he thought he grabbed a male dog. When he got home, my husband was calling Nova, a boy until I pointed out that she was female. My husband is still out numbered by girls in our home and Nova is such a little pup!
