Therapy Style

I believe in building a trusting relationship that leads to the empowerment of my clients. In our work together, my priority is for you to feel safe in being yourself and expressing your experiences. I have 15 years of experience as a mental health professional with the opportunity to work with various ages and backgrounds in different clinical settings. I have experience providing bilingual (English and Spanish) individual therapy and use a person-centered approach when working with clients. I utilize concepts and tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. In addition to using these modalities, I am skilled in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and exploring ways to achieve harm reduction. I have experience treating several mental health issues including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, grief and loss, and family and relationship stressors. I am passionate about normalizing mental health treatment and I believe that access to mental health care is a right and not a privilege.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I realized from an early age that I had a disarming quality to my personality which attracted others to feel comfortable opening up and talking to me about things they struggled to speak with others. As I embarked on my healing journey, I realized that I could effectively help assist and guide others in their healing journeys.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I enjoy meditation, listening to music daily, and working out consistently throughout the week. Stillness and movement are incredibly good for the body and soul.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Eva's Village in Paterson, NJ. They are an important anchor in the community that offers social services, mental health, and substance use recovery services to individuals struggling with hunger, homelessness, poverty, and addiction.

How do you recharge?

I literally unplug from technology and immerse myself in nature. I love taking walks, hiking, going to the beach, and swimming.

Do you have any pets?

I would currently love to have a dog and a couple of cats. My first pet was a parakeet which grew up to have a mate and about 15 little ones. I also rescued a baby iguana which grew up to take over my living room at the time. He is now living the tropical life in Florida.
