My Therapy Style

My therapy style is supportive, informative, and encouraging. Learning how to move through problems instead of resisting them reduces uncomfortable feelings. How we respond to life determines our level of fulfillment. I help clients recover from trauma, improve life functioning, and strengthen relationships in order to reach their potential. Depression, anxiety, substance abuse, self-esteem, eating disorders, and interpersonal turmoil can get in the way. I use many modalities to help individuals, couples, and families connect with their values and cope with life’s challenges.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

When I was younger I worked through my emotions by making art. It was therapeutic for me and in my early career I helped others express themselves visually through teaching. The therapeutic aspect of art has always been the most valuable to me which led me to pursue counseling.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

When I help clients, I am helping myself. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than understanding and helping others.

What book have you read more than once?

Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch is a book I have read many times. I believe in giving attention to the body, mind, and spirit. Spirituality can be a way to connect with who we are and find meaning.

How do you recharge?

I’m sensitive to my environment. Decorating, creating, and being in a calm space helps me relax. I’ve learned to enjoy the simple things; a good series on Netflix, a cup of coffee, a clean home-these things energize me.

Do you have any pets?

My husband and I feed the stray cats in the neighborhood. One of the cats who visits regularly takes over the back yard so we have stations in the front and also side of the house to reduce stray cat anxiety!
