My Therapy Style

Everyone needs someone in their life to help validate their feelings and experiences. Sometimes we may feel depressed or anxious without knowing the reason. This is not uncommon and talking to a therapist can help. I use a holistic approach while providing a safe space with acceptance of who you are. I help my clients create goals for themselves and we work on them together. Past experiences include working at community mental health clinics, community colleges, and universities, as well as private practice.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

In 2005, I began working in the mental health field by volunteering as a domestic violence advocate for a local women's shelter. My passion for helping people only grew from this experience.

What are your interests outside of work?

I am a "Bird Nerd" and I love to bird watch.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I make a point to spend time outside and walk.

What book have you read more than once?

I love reading The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk M.D. It describes what trauma is and how it changes the whole body. I find it fascinating.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

PAWS Shelter of Central Texas is a no-kill shelter and it's where I adopted my two cats.

Do you have any pets?

I have two cats that I adore. There are too many stories to choose from. I will say that Mitzie has a tendency to pop in and say hello during a session sometimes.
