Therapy Style

I have about 10 years of diverse experience including trauma, substance abuse treatment, and domestic violence counseling and advocacy. I approach each client with an open mind and an open heart. My counseling style is warm, nurturing, and client-centered. I believe each person is the “expert” on themselves and it is my role to help them find the tools that will assist them to their goals. My clinical “toolbox” is crammed full of interventions from many different counseling models including mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy because you are unique and therapy is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor.

Counseling is a second career (I was a chef) and I bring a wealth of life experience to the therapy room. I have been through marriage, divorce, parenting challenges, personal loss, and so much more. My passion is helping my clients find their direction in life, and I am humbled to walk with them as they discover their own life path.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I want to help people live their best lives. Helping individuals to find their direction, ease their burdens, and overcome the challenges and barriers life throws their way is my passion.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love to travel and experience different cultures, especially food. Trying authentic dishes is one of the best parts of visiting other places, either in the U.S. or abroad.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I start every day with a short visualization and a Wordle. The meditation makes me feel grounded and centered. The puzzle challenges my little gray cells and gets them moving.
