Why did you become a mental health professional?

I came into the field of mental health after being in the Navy for seven-plus years. I am someone who grew up in a poorer community and had older brothers who were twins getting into legal trouble because they had mental health needs that were not addressed and seen as a stigma. I know how important it is to have self-determination and not be judged.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, completing puzzles and spending time with my husband.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I spend time with my husband and we walk the dog.

How do you recharge?

Travel, reading, doing puzzles and relaxing in the pool.

Do you have any pets?

I inherited a dog from my youngest son. My favorite story about my Baloo is how he likes to lay on the couch with his head on the back and look at you with his big brown eyes.
