Therapy Style

I have experience working in several different environments such as non-profits, treatment centers, outpatient clinics and schools. In doing so, I have found passion in working with individual adults and couples.

I utilize a more egalitarian approach rather than a traditional one in my work. I share parts of my life and experiences, when appropriate, in order to help my clients feel more understood, less alone, and to help them move forward in our work together. I am very open about the fact that I've been in therapy on and off for most of my adult life in order to normalize the struggle of the human condition. Most of the tools, resources, and interventions I use with my clients, I have used in my personal life. This way I can personally vouch for their function and effectiveness. Therapy is an incredibly vulnerable experience and it is my goal to tailor my approach to each individual client. I aim to create a nurturing and supportive space where I am your biggest cheerleader.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I love forming deep connections. I feel so honored to be allowed in to someone's emotional livelihood and help guide them through struggles and toward their goals. It's an indescribable feeling to see my clients thrive.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love nature walks and weekend brunches. I also can't get enough of watching horror films, eating spicy food, and petting dogs. If I'm doing all of these things simultaneously, I'm in heaven.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Hugs! I'm all about physical affection and I make sure to get several hugs each day from my loved ones. I find hugs incredibly grounding.

What book have you read more than once?

Attached by Levine and Heller. It has helped me understand my own insecure attachment style, give myself more compassion, and feel more secure in my relationships. I regularly utilize information from this book in both my personal and professional life.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I value the variety of services that Planned Parenthood offers and regularly donate to them. I also love animals so I'm a huge fan of local animal shelters and rescues. I recently moved back to the Bay Area and have been impressed with the Milo Foundation.

How do you recharge?

I enjoy one-on-one quality time. I find that mutually intimate and vulnerable discussions help fill up my cup.

Do you have any pets?

I adopted a stray and named him Oslo. One early morning, he woke himself up from a nightmare seemingly confused and upset. Oslo proceeded to jump up onto the bed and sit on my head for comfort. That was one of his safe spaces.
