Therapy Style

It is thrilling to be part of a world in which mental or behavioral health is finally getting support from people outside the profession! Entering therapy, for the first or subsequent times, can be a gift you offer to yourself to improve your overall health and capacity. It's a sign of strength to ask for help! Even the best life can offer up challenges that tax your capacity and resources to manage.

I bring to our collaboration humility, humor, a wealth of diverse experience, as you do. Between us, we can create a safe place in which you can explore your choices and learn new skills to manage challenging issues.

I am an immigrant and straddle two cultures, have family in different parts of the world, and have had to navigate acculturation as an adult. I work well with young adults, also men, and those who are going through transitions. I am an ally of the LGBTQ+ community. I am known to be pragmatic, collaborative with clients on setting agendas, finding lessons that can be learned. I encourage goal setting to evaluate how progress is being made and we will both know when you are ready to graduate services. I offer a compassionate approach to growth and can support you on your chosen path.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love to take walks with my dog in my neighborhood or at the beach. I value quiet time in my home; cooking, making things with fabric and planning the next adventure. I am curious about the world and really like to travel. I invest in friends, near and far, new and old, and my family.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your mental and emotional well-being?

Sleep is free medicine! I try hard to ensure my physical body can support my emotional heath by getting regular rest, exercise, fresh air and nutrition. Okay, that's more than one thing! This helps me be as present and awake as possible during the day. There is nothing like restorative sleep.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Doctors without Borders. I admire how nonpartisan they are and how courageous their providers are. It's very inspiring.

Do you have any pets?

I am thrilled to be an adoptive mom of a 15 pound mutt, Tucker, since Aug 2021. He teaches me daily to be in the moment, be adaptive, that routine generates security to be adventurous and that even if you lose 4 teeth somehow you can still enjoy your food!
