Therapy Style

My approach in helping clients is to guide them in reconnecting with what is important to them in life and how to focus their energy on those important things. This is based on the perspective of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as it uses a wide variety of interventions to help people understand their own relationship with their thoughts, how to shift that relationship and be able to move towards living a valued life. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to guide and teach those I work with in making the connection between their thoughts, feelings, emotions and how those impact and influence their own behavior. Solutions-Focused Therapy is also a modality I use to empower people to tap into their own abilities to resolve life’s challenges. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that involves paying attention to what is working for my clients and using the interventions for what is not working.

Sessions will provide you with the space to be heard and understood. In feeling safe and comfortable, you'll be able to gain clarity and express your thoughts and feelings.

It's important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and check in on your progress as we go. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

What are your interests outside of work?

When I am not at work you can find me outside hiking, kayaking, camping or settled inside with a good book.

What book have you read more than once?

Brene Brown's book Daring Greatly has so many good insights and is such a helpful perspective on being human. I learn something new about vulnerability each time I read through it!

Do you have any pets?

I have a Labrador Retriever who is getting into old doggie age, but he still loves to belly flop into the water to swim after the ball when we play at the river every summer!
