Therapy Style

As a seasoned clinician, I am able to effectively help a client identify where they are stuck and define reasonable short-term treatment goals. Through a collaborative, non-judgmental, strengths-based approach, I join and guide the client in their work towards change. I bring a warm and caring stance when building rapport and a trustworthy space that will allow a client to connect with their own vulnerability. Having worked with a diverse client population I am culturally informed and sensitive to the complexities of racial and ethnic elements of the human experience. I am a bilingual, South American Spanish speaker.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

In my early 20s, I had a life-changing experience as a patient. I was supported and mentored by a clinician who helped me pivot from sadness towards a more productive life journey. That propelled my interest and passion for helping others transform, pivot and rewrite their life script.

What are your interests outside of work?

When I am not working, or parenting, I am generally into activities that promote healthy living. I love to do yoga, go on walks alone to clear my mind and with my dogs to connect with nature.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

During the pandemic, I learned to meditate to center my mind and connect with my body. I enjoy and look forward to meditating daily.

What book have you read more than once?

The Road Less Travelled, this book gave me an understanding that it is ok to be different and follow your own voice. It promotes finding your identity which is pivotal in positive mental health.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

The California Endowment Center is one of my favorite organizations. I love that their mission is to expand access to affordable, quality health care to underserved individuals and communities and that they offer up their space to promoting education amongst professionals in the health arena.

How do you recharge?

My happy place is the beach. I love fresh air, sunshine and the open ocean to stare at. Warm sand under my toes is a plus.

Do you have any pets?

I have two white labs that I adore. My favorite pet story is that each morning at the time I get up my lab pup will sit by my bedside and yawn until I am off the bed. If I hit snooze she will jump on the bed and lay on my body to wake me.
