About The Role:

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst who is passionate about driving business success through data and increasing access to mental health. In this role, you will work closely with the department leaders to understand each team's reporting needs and develop a plan to empower stakeholders with the metrics and insights that they need. You will be responsible for implementing and teaching stakeholders how to utilize their dashboards.Octave is a full-stack behavioral health services company: we employ therapists, contract with insurance providers for reimbursing care, and run our own tech stack to support across the business. We are a technology-enabled service provider working to increase access to mental health care for insured people in the US. Automation and strong systems are the lynchpin for enabling scale and driving access for more people to get care. You would be the first dedicated Business Intelligence Analyst joining a small, growing (and well-funded!) team. The team is distributed across the US and has varied backgrounds, from education to fitness, advertising, travel, and healthcare. The role is virtual, with the opportunity to work in person in San Francisco in the future. This role reports to the Business Intelligence Manager.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Help develop a ‘data driven’/’data informed’ culture:
    • Create interactive, uniform dashboards that serve individual stakeholders across the organization
    • Actively communicate with stakeholders to tell data-driven stories
    • Provide ad-hoc analysis for specific teams as needed
    • Train and onboard individual stakeholders onto their individual dashboards
  • Be a thought partner to impact strategy:
    • Partner closely with leadership team to understand Octave's business and define the right KPI’s for the org - Finance, HR, Operations, Billing, Clinical
    • Partner cross-functionally to understand the teams' priorities and dive deep into understanding patients and therapists, designing KPIs and reporting, forecasting, etc.
  • Create best practices for company-wide analytics:
    • Develop processes for building and iterating on current dashboards that scales across the organization

Experience, Skills, Knowledge And/or Abilities:

  • 2+ years experience in business intelligence or analytics (or related role)
  • 2+ years developing reports and dashboards for different audiences
  • 2+ years of SQL fluency
  • Knowledgeable about different aspects of healthcare
  • A strong statistical foundation and experience using a programming language (python, R, etc)
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to tell story with data and explain the nuance to stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically (interfacing with senior leaders), while also enjoying being hands-on with the data
  • A knack for asking the right questions, then answering them with sound data and analysis
  • Ability to dive deep into the data weeds, and then synthesize data into strategic business insights
