Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

To help those in need. I did not choose to be a therapist but landed in the field as a consequence of my own cultural background and history.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love to exercise! Going out on hikes and yoga are both ways I re-charge the battery. I also love the arts to include going to hear live music or attending musicals or plays.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

My kitties love my attention, so petting them, playing with them, and caring for them fills my cup. I also meditate daily to stay grounded.

What book have you read more than once?

The Five People you meet in Heaven — just a great read! Mich Albom is a great writer and brings so much wisdom to the chaos life can bring.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I would say NAMI. I love that they really work hard to help families who are suffering the impact of a loved one with a mental illness. Families are often suffering in silence and NAMI helps stop that cycle.

How do you recharge?

Doing Yoga, petting my kitties, and spending time with family and friends.

Do you have any pets?

I have an elderly cat and a pair of younger bonded kitties. Recently when my daughter moved into her new place, her indoor cat could not be found anywhere. We thought he escaped so we wandered the neighborhood calling out his name with treats in our hands. After about an hour and a half later, we came back home only to find the cat sleeping by one of the storage boxes!
